Chef&Sommelier Open Up Wine Glass: Discovering Wines from Around the World
- " It doesn't matter what the container is ," goes the popular saying. And yet, when it comes to wine, nothing could be further from the truth! While it's certainly possible to drink wine from any glass, a suitable wine glass will allow you to truly appreciate it and reveal its full potential.
- And when it comes to red wines , and particularly wines from the so-called “new world” (Australia, Chile, California…), the Open Up glasses from Chef&Sommelier prove to be particularly suitable.
- Their shape has been specially designed to create a "decanter" effect, allowing the wine to oxygenate and aerate, thus accelerating the release of its aromas. Indeed, red wines are richer in tannins, which can make them slightly astringent; while New World wines are generally more full-bodied than their counterparts from so-called traditional vineyards. Aerating these wines is therefore essential to soften them and allow their aromas to develop and become perceptible.
- In addition, the rim of the glass is wide enough to allow you to smell the wine by bringing it to your mouth and drinking it, but nevertheless slightly narrowed to allow for a better concentration of aromas.
- The pleasure of sight is not forgotten either: thanks to its composition in Krysta (the exclusive lead-free crystal of the Arc Group), the Open Up wine glasses have a very high transparency allowing you to fully appreciate their contents, without tint or distortion of colors; while the typical sound of crystal will accompany your tasting sessions.
